Ozempic face gets the headlines, but it's rarely the only change. When weight comes off fast, it comes off everywhere: the butt flattens, breasts lose fullness, the neck loosens, and the skin on the thighs gets thin and crepey. People have started calling it Ozempic body.
I wrote about the face in Ozempic Face: What It Is and How to Treat It. This post covers the four body areas people ask me about most: what's going on in each one, what helps, and where a med spa stops and a surgeon starts.
What Is Ozempic Body?
Like Ozempic face, it isn't a medical diagnosis. It's the nickname for the deflated, looser look some people get after losing a lot of weight quickly on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound. It can happen after any big weight loss; the medications just made fast weight loss common.
Three things drive it:
- Lost fat where you have shape. The butt, the breasts and the area under the jaw all hold fat that gives them their curve. When the fat goes, the shape goes with it.
- Lost muscle. Part of the weight people lose on GLP-1 medications can be muscle, not just fat, especially without strength training and enough protein. Less muscle under the skin means less lift.
- Skin that can't keep up. Skin that was stretched over a bigger body for years doesn't snap back overnight, and after about 40 your skin makes less collagen every year.
Ozempic Butt
This is the area I'm asked about most. The butt is a mix of fat and the glute muscles. Lose both quickly and it can look flatter, lower and less round, with loose skin where the buttock meets the thigh and cellulite that suddenly shows more.
What helps
- Strength training. This is the most useful thing you can do, and it isn't something I can do for you. Squats, lunges, hip thrusts and deadlifts rebuild the glute muscle that gives the butt its shape. Two or three sessions a week makes a visible difference.
- Venus MP2. For loose skin and cellulite on the buttocks, the Venus MP2 heats the deeper layers of the skin to build new collagen and smooth dimpling. A typical series is six to eight weekly sessions, with no downtime.
- Surgery, for a lot of loose skin. If skin hangs below the buttock crease, a butt lift with a plastic surgeon is the real fix.
Ozempic Breasts
Breasts are mostly fat, so they're often one of the first places weight loss shows. After a big loss, many people find their breasts are smaller, sit lower and look emptier at the top, and the skin on the chest looks thinner.
I'll be straight with you: no non-surgical treatment restores breast volume or meaningfully lifts the breasts. Not at our clinic and not anywhere else. If that's your goal, a board-certified plastic surgeon can walk you through a lift, an implant or both, usually once your weight has been stable for a while.
What helps the skin
What I can help with is the skin on your chest. Microneedling builds collagen in thin, crepey skin and works on the chest as well as the face, and daily sunscreen keeps sun damage from making it worse. One more practical tip: get re-fitted for a bra. Your size has probably changed, and the right support makes a big difference in how clothes fit.
Ozempic Neck
The neck is where face and body meet, and it often changes along with the face. When the fat along the jaw and under the chin goes, the skin there loosens. People notice a softer jawline, sagging under the chin (the dreaded "turkey neck"), and crepier skin with more horizontal lines.
What helps
- Venus MP2 on the neck. Radiofrequency tightening works well on mild to moderate looseness along the jaw and neck.
- Microneedling for crepey skin and neck lines. Every session is paired with AnteAGE MD growth factors and exosomes to boost collagen.
- Jawline and chin filler. When the jaw loses its edge, filler along the jawline and chin from Yvonne, RN, our nurse injector, brings back the line between face and neck. It often makes the neck look tighter even though nothing was done to the neck itself. More on our injectables page.
If there's a lot of hanging skin on the neck, a neck lift with a surgeon is the more reliable answer, and I'll tell you if I think that's where you are.
Ozempic Thighs
Thighs lose fat and muscle like everywhere else, and the skin on the inner thighs and just above the knees is thin to begin with. After weight loss it often looks loose or crepey, and cellulite shows more.
What helps
- Venus MP2. Thighs are one of the Venus MP2's best areas, for both cellulite and loose skin. Many people notice a difference after two or three sessions, with a full series of six to eight.
- Strength training. Leg work rebuilds the muscle under the skin and improves the shape of the whole leg.
- Surgery, for significant excess. A thigh lift is the option when there's a lot of loose skin on the inner thigh.
Loose skin on the upper arms and stomach is just as common, and the Venus MP2 treats both.
When It's a Job for a Surgeon
Non-surgical treatments work best for mild to moderate looseness: skin that's softer and crepier than it used to be, not skin that folds or hangs. As a rough guide, the Venus MP2 does its best work for people who've lost about 20 pounds or less. At 50 pounds or more, most people have more loose skin than any device can tighten, and surgery is what will help. If you've lost a very large amount of weight and have a lot of excess skin, no device will remove it. That's a conversation for a board-certified plastic surgeon, and if I think that's you, I'll tell you at your consultation rather than sell you sessions that won't get you there.
Can You Prevent Ozempic Body?
You can reduce it, and the earlier you start, the better:
- Strength train two or three times a week to hold on to muscle while you lose fat.
- Eat enough protein. It's easy to under-eat when your appetite is low, so ask your prescriber or a dietitian how much is right for you.
- Lose weight at the pace your prescriber recommends. Slower loss gives your skin more time to adjust.
- Start collagen-building treatments early. You don't have to wait until you hit your goal to start Venus MP2 or microneedling.
- Wear sunscreen on any skin that sees the sun. Sun damage breaks down the collagen you're trying to keep.
Should You Wait Until You're Done Losing Weight?
For skin tightening and collagen treatments, no. Starting Venus MP2 while you're still losing weight helps your skin keep up. For filler, it's usually better to wait until you're close to your goal, because your face and jaw will keep changing. Surgery almost always waits until your weight has been stable for several months.
What a Plan Might Look Like
Every body is different, but here's a typical plan for someone who lost 20 pounds or less on a GLP-1 and is close to their goal:
- Six to eight weekly Venus MP2 sessions on the buttocks and thighs
- Venus MP2 or microneedling on the neck
- Jawline filler with Yvonne if the jaw has lost definition
- Strength training two or three times a week, which does more for the butt than anything I can offer
- Daily sunscreen and a medical-grade skincare routine to protect the results
